General Mills really stumbled onto something in 1941 when they made some oat cereal shaped like little “O’s. But they weren’t sharp enough then (hey, there was a war in Europe, they had other things on their mind) to call them the easy and catchy name “Cheerios.” That was forced on them by Quaker Oats, because GM originally called them “CheeriOats.” Quaker, that’s what’s called being too smart by half.

This is truly the food for all ages. One of the first solid foods babies eat, and one that adults of all ages love. Complex City Guide did a ranking of the 50 Greatest Cereals of All Time. Cheerios was number 1. Mr.Breakfast.com did the same, and Cheerios ranked number 13, though Honey Nut Cheerios came in number 4. And according to Amazon’s sales, those two rank numbers 2 and 3 respectively.
Me, I like the yogurt frosted Cheerios, especially the strawberry ones. Don’t need milk. Just self-control.
