Southwest Airlines
Most airlines will get you where you want to go. But as an industry, rising costs have made them a pale imitation of what they used to be. Seat size: smaller. Leg room: less. Baggage prices: higher. In-flight meals: What in-flight meals? Now, it’s not as if Southwest Airlines is immune from all this, though you at least get the thought that they are resisting it. But they’re the one domestic airline left that has what all big corporations need, and so few exhibit: personality.
You may have seen the viral video of a Southwest flight attendant doing a stand-up comedy routine while giving the pre-flight instructions. Or the guy who raps his way through them. Even the airline’s commercials show a playful side, and that’s something you don’t expect from this industry.
Oh, did I mention that flying on Southwest typically costs less than comparable airlines? Or that you pay less in baggage fees? Most of all, that their employees actually seem to like their jobs – and the company they work for? As another airline claimed, but never demonstrated: They love to fly, and it shows.

They have better on-time rates because they don’t waste time cramming “free” carry on bags into overhead bins. Can we bring them to PTI???
