Album: Songs in the Key of Life
The word “genius” probably gets thrown around too often, just as “superstar” does. But Stevie Wonder is unarguably both, and Songs in the Key of Life may be his best album. That’s quite high praise, considering his impressive body of work.
Songs has two of my favorite Stevie Wonder hits, both of which I love for their rhythm: “Sir Duke” and “I Wish.” Both reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It also includes two beautiful but softer songs, “Isn’t She Lovely” and “As.”
This double album reached number 1 on the album chart, and earned Wonder four Grammy Awards: Album of the Year, Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, Best Male R&B Vocal Performance and Producer of the Year. I remember when I first heard “Little” Stevie Wonder singing “Fingertips”, thinking this was a pretty talented kid. Boy, can I pick ’em or what?
Yep, you can pick ’em!!
